Harry Knowles analyzes The Hulk shooting script

Wow. Harry actually liked a comic book movie before he ever saw the script! Who would have thought? Gosh, he's usually so negative, I don't think this has ever happened before.

Snort.

The man has about zero credibility left, unfortunately. He's a cool promo site, but his ability to accurately judge movie quality is a little... questionable. Or maybe I'm just a cynic. :)

That being said, I'm looking forward to the movie!

Good lord... this coming from the same man who reviewed Attack of the Clones as a *good* movie.

I'm not sure I'd trust him to accurately judge a game of pong, much less a feature film.

No need to get into it here, but Clones was a good flick so need to rag on Harry for that. To each his or her own. As for the Hulk movie, I don't need Knowles to tell me it's gonna be good. The director has a history of making entertaining movies, the trailer looked very Hulk-esque and comic book movies have been getting better and better. I expect it to give me 90 minutes of enjoyment. :)

Heheh. :)

Never thought of it like that. I do like Moriarty's reviews. They tend to be more realistic and less "gushy." I really have nothing against Harry, tho. I dig the site and appriciate it for what it is.

I'll wait for Moriarty to review this thing, I have some respect for him as a reviewer. For Harry I have not (although I love his site).

I have little fear that this will be a bad Jeky-n-Hyde monster movie with Ang Lee in charge 'n all. I do fear that it won't be a good Hulk movie though, although the trailers (which are very Hulk-ish) have made me feel a tad better.

It's just weird how these things can affect me, the curse of being a fanboy I guess. Which begs the question, is there a positive thing about being a fanboy? The only thing I can think of is the Nivana like feeling when I watch good geek movie in the theatre...

Ug. To each his own, I guess. I watched it on DVD a couple of weeks ago. Man it sucks. The guy doing Anakin is really bad.

Visually, it's awesome. Unfortunately, the acting and script don't hold up.

How right you are, O my brother. I bought it, got the DVD home and couldn't even sit through the whole movie. I just fast-forwarded through the good-looking scenes, and the arena battle that Samuel L. Jackson manages to pull from the firey pit of utter crapitude.

That's all I have to say, lest I derail the thread.

I tend to read both of them since, so far, Harry and/or Moriarty and I agree more than we disagree. I can usually use their reviews as a good measure of how well I'll like a film. I've disagreed with them in the past, but not nearly as often as I have most other reviewers (like Ebert or the Amazing Garden Vegetable That Walks Like a Man that suppossedly does reviews for our local paper).

One thing I really like about the site is that I'll hear about things that normally I'd never know even existed, like Dagon or Brotherhood of the Wolf.

That's most of what I look for from AICN, truthfully. Reviews of shooting scripts, which may be different three days from now (or three hours!) is hardly a way to judge a movie...especially since it's a visual medium dependent on actors, direction and editing. I also like to be suprised by movies and TV. Reading the plot six months before seeing it seems...I dunno, like picking your own pocket.

Discoveries like 'The Limey' and 'Brotherhood of the Wolf' make up for their total lack of objectivity about other topics, but I treat everything from AICN with a grain of salt, these days. And I avoid the talkback feature like the plague. Some of AICN's constituency seems to have forgotten that they're supposed to ENJOY movies.
