Has Anyone created a 4th Edition Rules primer?

Rechan

Adventurer
I'm starting a new group full of people who practically haven't played since 2e. So, I am looking for a way to get the process of teaching them the system started.

Has anyone written a "Beginner's Guide" or "Basic 4e Rules"? Anything that I could send via email or link to our message board?

My situation is exactly the same as Rechan's. I'll be looking for more pointers as I get closer to getting this campaign together, but for now I want to make sure that this D&D Experience "primer" is accurate to the official 4E rules? Anything contradictions?

I believe the DDXP primer is pretty faithful to the official rules. Think of it as a fast-play version of 4e, similar to any one of a zillion other free downloads available from a multitude of gaming companies. While everything isn't there I don't believe anything contradicts the actual rules.

...although there may have been an issue with some of the warlock's powers if I remember correctly. And there is no warlord demo character since that was not 'officially' leaked as a class at the time of the primer's release.

If it's not too late to be useful... I did put together a kind of "quick-start" document that seemed rather successful. PM or e-mail me if you're interested and I'll dig it up off my hard drive.

Sometimes written material just fails to capture playing concepts very well. The best way to teach newcomers is to get them involved in a game, provide characters, take things slow and easy and answer questions as they arise.

Different people can read the same material and interpret it in various ways. By explaining as you play, everyone starts out on the same page.

Wizards should seriously consider putting together the quick start material from the "Shadowfell" module and release it as a pdf download. At this point it's not like that is the reason people would be purchasing the module. Most game systems have a free quick start available with some pregens.

It's good for newbs, so they don't have to digest to much info their first game...
