What do you think of this film, I liked it, great directing despite the lack of original ideas, and I really like Halle Berry.

It was okay. On the predictability scale of 1 to 10, it rates about a 9.75.

It was fair but a lot of that ground has been covered before. One problem my friend had with it was that it was entirely too 'slow' once she escaped from the asylum.

I didn't like how the plot development laid itself out; I think the best way to sum it up is that, while it knows it wants to be a horror film, Gothika isn't certain if it wants to use supernatural horror, or just natural horror. It tries to straddle the fence, and ends up doing badly for it.

Started off great, went down the toilet quickly. The whitebread sheriff with the Mexican gangbanger tattoos made ZERO SENSE. The "Sixth Sense" rip-off ending (setting up a sequel) SUCKED. The film was fairly predictable and shallow. Would never watch it again and wanted my money back after walking out of the theater.

The music video was much more enjoyable than the movie. I found Gothika not only predictible but senseless. How many people are going to take a swim inside when there is a thunderstorm raging outside and the lights are flickering? For a doctor, Halle Berry was not too bright. I really wanted to like the movie more but it did entertain me for the time being so I give it an average rating.

Just got it from Netflix yesterday and watched it with the wife last night. I liked it fine. It was nothing great, a little predictable, etc. But I was entertained well enough. I'd probably give it a 2 to 2 1/2 stars on the Ebert scale. Maybe a 6 or 6 1/2 out of 10. 7 if I'm in a good mood. I think I'm glad I didn't see it in the theater, but for a Netflix movie, it was worth it.

I agree with the Directing completely. For someone I had never heard of, Mathieu Kassovitz did a damn good job....

...Just did a IMDB search and found out that he was a mugger in Fifth Element... groovy :)
