Theres a spellfire channeller class in one of the FR books......fairly sure its magic of faerun. Not impressive. Your constant need to drain magical energy to do anything is WAY more than whatever was mentioned in the spellfire trilogy, and the crown of fire as the level 10 class ability is seriously underwhelming.

You will not be able to insta char mages through their magical protections or anything remotely close.

Isn't Tomb of Magic 3.0 and not 3.5?

I haven't seen or heard of 3.5 spellfire, not that I've been looking though.

If spellfire wasn't reprinted for 3.5e in player's guide to faerun or another book (it hasn't) then it's original version in magic of faerun is considered 3.5e compatible and the only version you need to play in a 3.5e game.

I wasnt looking for anything overwhelming, I just wanted to play one for fun.

Personally, I think the Magic of Faerun and FRCS rules for Spellfire work well within a 3.5 D&D game - not unbalanced versus other class options at all, and really was toned down from the novels with being playable in the first place. Most DM's heard "Spellfire" and throught "no freakin' WAY am I allowing it!", so Sean Reynolds and WotC sought to change the opinion. They succeeded pretty well in my opinion, and I really don't see anything that would need to be changed.

You might consider talking to you DM about a minor rework of the Warlock class; it looks like a pretty good basis for me for a more reasonable Spellfire class.

Potentially as a multiclass with Spellthief.

The Warlock does look fun. I was thinking a Warlock/monk though.

To sum up what otehrs have said: the 3.0 book Magic of Faerun has a feat and a PrC to use Spellfire whch is 3.5 compatable rigth off the hop. As Henry said, it is also reasonably balanced, if a bit undewhealing as Question said.
