Had a fun experience in my game group yesterday and I thought I'd share.
Apparently my DM was re-reading the Pool of Radiance novel and decided quite randomly that the Ring of Protection that we gave to our sorceress member was also a Ring of X Wishes. (I say X because we don't know how many are left in that thing.
)
So commiserating in a tavern after a battle in which our flame loving sorceress got injured by a clay golem, she made an in-character comment that she wished she could use a sword and armour like my character.
*Bamf* DM suddenly said the gemstone on Ring gave a bright light and that when she looked at the sword at my character's side she could suddenly see how to grip and swing it etc and then told her to write down the fact that she had gained the Martial Weapon and Light Armour Proficiencies.
Our group was first shocked then amazed then greedy as we tried to find out how many wishes were left, after a few Identify spells GM just said the Protection Aura of the ring masked how many wishes if any were left. If we wanted to find out we'd have to test it
.
Our Sorceress is having a bit of an identity crisis, She's trying to decide what else to wish for, waffling between a more powerful familiar and ability boost (Although there is a Lawful Evil character in our group who is [in-character not Out of Character] advocating a more fair re-distribution of the wealth) and whether to take the Eldritch Knight PrC now or continue with her Incantrix training. Quickened Maximised Fireball spells seem to appeal to her for some reason but she also likes the fact of being able to wave a sword around apparently.
My game group is currently advising our GM to not to read any more fantasy books without our approval...
