WotC, as I understand it, is a fairly small part of Hasbro. So, most articles will not likely mention them.

What I am interested in is learning how much WotC contributed to the company's bottom line and the state of relations between the people at Renton, WA and those in Providence, RI. These two factors will likely have the biggest impact on WotC's future. (I hope there are no more layoffs this year. I was a bit saddened reading about the cuts last year.)

I'm not worried. As far as I know, WotC in active and D&D is profitable, so the game itself should have no problems.

If Hasbro dumps WOTC, and nobody picks them up, then I feel certain that someone will publish a game under the OGL (allowing them to include character creation and advancement) that is strangely similar to what we're playing now.

Are we looking at the same numbers?

Sales: up
Profits: up
Stock price: up

Why would this make someone worry about D&D?

PS

(Wall Street rebounded today after it was determined that the good news wasn't as bad as the bad news was good...)

Habsros profit/ loss has nothing to do with with the future of gaming anymore. The SRD is out and the future of gaming is preserved. If Hasbro was to say "lets dissolve that Wizards thing we bought a few years ago." It won't matter. Those talented people that have brought us so many wonderful things will continue to do so (many have already jumped ship and have their own companies).

IT necessarily how much WOTC contributes to the bottom line in comparison to all other revenue/profit streams, but how good are the margins WOTC produces.
