First, Rhode Island is a lovely state. I am from Mass and I like Rhode Island. I don't think there is the rivalry some have been suggesting here (if Massachusetts has a New England rivalry it would be with New Hampshire, followed by CT). but every one knows our true enemy is New York.

I am not sure I see the upswing for RI, Mass or Hasbro with this move. It isn't like WOTC would be coming here (as far as I know they are still in Washington). A toy company coming here isn't exciting economic news. All Hasbro will get from the move to Boston is a traffic nightmare (assuming they are moving into the city and not somewhere else). Also unlikely their employees will be living in Boston itself. They will most likely live in a suburb and have a horrible commute to and from work (and if they choose to brave our public transit system it isn't known for its reliability or safety if they don't have delays or catch on fire that is a good day).

My two thoughts on the headline-

1. Hasbro is in Rhode Island? I DID NOT KNOW THAT! I assume that they got a good deal in Federal Hill on some corporate headquarters that fell off the back of a truck.

2. On the plus side, if you’re leaving Rhode Island you don’t have to go far.

If it’s Boston, that might explain things (along with turnover at the top of the company). I suspect Boston is comparable London. A certain class of executive can’t contemplate not being in a major world city, despite the sky high prices and congested transport. As Doctor Johnson said “if you are tired of London, you are tired of life”. Johnson was an idiot, but he shows how these people think.
