Can a re-issue of FASERIP be far behind?

Aww, just thinking about that made me realize how unrealistic a hope that is. I have made myself sad.

On CNN the other day they called out Hasbro as one of the few companies reporting strong profits.

Hasbro has a ton of great product lines, and many of the non-electronic entertainment items we have in our home are Hasbro branded. Hi Ho Cherry Oh, Star Wars toys, Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, Disney toys, etc. I'll bet 50% of them are Hasbro.

So, is that theory that in a recession, games do better being proven true?

I can see where this might be true...Easier to break out the old boardgame/RPG once every weekend that plunking down 10 bucks a person for movie night...

Americans are starting to actually save and Hasbro's product lines are well suited for those that want to watch their pennies but get long lasting value for their money....

This is part of the reason I love to game (well besides the ladies ;)) a copy of the PHB is $30 or so and it provides hours upon hours of entertainment. Even a 100 hour JRPG struggles to have as strong a ROI for me.

Actually, I just saw a story that indicated movie theaters were doing brisk business last quarter -- theory being the "cheap entertainment" thing, which I DEFINITELY don't buy as an answer. For 10 bucks I can watch a movie for two hours, or spend thirty bucks on a board game that friends and I can play for dozens of hours? I don't know...

...Same thing for video games -- If you're a single person looking for cheap fun, a Wii/Xbox/PS3 game is still better dollar for dollar vs. how repeatable it is...

Seems to be true:

Bloomberg.com: U.S.

“When you get into this type of economy, where the consumer does not have the kind of spendable income that they had previously, they tend to do more things as a family,” Neil Friedman, president of Mattel brands, said in a telephone interview. “That tends to be games."... “People are staying home more and looking for in-home entertainment more than ever.” ... Board-game and puzzles sales rose 2 percent in 2008 (for Hasbro)
