D&D 5E Hasbro's Goldner - D&D up 50%

FWIW, I apologize if my reply came off as confrontational. I understand what you're saying. :)

No worries. I knew my actual point got overlooked, and the thread was heading off to edition-war land because that is the way this place gets sometimes. Better to clarify.

Glad to hear that its doing well. My only hopes are that this allows to invest more in this whole "brand" approach because outside of an incredibly mediocre videogame we have seen nothing. Second is I hope this means maybe this can trickle down to the rest of the industry, because while 5e is very solid it is also incredibly bland for my taste and if the industry grows then maybe the popularity of other games will as well

I believe that the person most responsible for pushing the "5e is failing" narrative has been banned, so that's probably why we haven't seen that viewpoint for a while, but do have memories of it being put forth.

About the worst complaint I see about 5e as a whole is "it's not for me". Not exactly scathing diatribes. I suppose there was a while that we saw a lot of complaints about the release pacing. But that's more of a business end of things than a complaint about the game.

Other than some issues with high level play, I'm not sure 5e is drawing any real antagonism.

It could be that D&D isn't returning as much money as other investment choices.

For example, Hasbro invests $1 in D&D, get back $2.50
Hasbro invests $1 in My Little Pony, gets back $5.

In that case D&D would be not as good as hoped, and the money would be better spent on My Little Pony.

Which means the next D&D campaign setting is going to be My Little Pony World! New spell option: Rainbow Sparkles! :D

And I would totally buy it! It would be the. first adventure path/setting material I would use that they have produced for 5e. My little girl loves MLP (and admittedly, I enjoy it too) and I could use a bunch of campaign material for it.
