Have the old Star Frontiers races been converted to d20?

The reason I ask is that I'd like to eventually incorporate the Yazarian(sp?) race into a D&D campaign. Come to think of it, the Vrusk and the Dralasite (or is that Drasalite???) would be just as welcome.

it's not 3.5, but if you can find the Complete Starfarer's Handbook (i think that's the right title, even so they've appeared in Spelljammer products), several of those races have been converted to 2E stats ... iirc the Yazarian (forget name, slang term from elves is Deck Apes), and the Rastipede (med/small insect like guy) ... and in the Spelljammer Monstrous Compedium there are some others.

2E info

Hadozee ("Deck Apes"): (the guys with the membranes between arms/legs that let them glide).

+1 dex, -1 cha (-2 cha in description). Medium sized

Hadozee were allowed to be clerics, fighters or thieves.

able to use 2 weapons in two hands (ambidextrous), or hand and foot ... or I would assume foot and foot if hanging from a branch.

can't use shields (except bucklers) as they get in the way of their gliding membranes.

can glide, thief skills: PP +5%, OL +5%, F/RT +5%, MS -5%, CW +20% (very good climbers mentioned in fluff as well), RL -5%.

in the MC7 Hadozee are listed as having 3HD (PC's in the CSFHb don't)

Vrusk/Rastipede (BUGSSS!!!!):

-1 Dex, +1 con

can be fighters, mages, thieves, bards

chitinous shell gives them AC 3 (very hard to wear armor as well)

move is 15' rather than 12' (centaur/insect body)

can detect depth underground, grades/slopes, and unsafe walls/cieling/floors.

Excellent sense of smell due to antennae (scent feat?)

Height 44 in +/- 1d8 (do do doo ... wolf does some quick math ...) that's only about 4 ft high right?

weight: 220 pnd +/- 5d10 ... that seems like a lot for short bug-thingee.

MC7 gives them a length of 6 ft and 5 HD (again probably for NPC/monster not PC's)

Syllix: evil slimy newt/salamander guys ....

3 +1 HD, AC7, M-size, Lawful Evil

Deck Apes?!?! Hazodee? Why has the name been changed---copyright stuff?

Oh, and personally I'd do the following:

Yazarian: -2 Str, -1 Con; +2 Dex, +1 Int.

no idea, but all the names were changed ... I think the drasalites (amobe guys) were called plasmoids in spelljammer.

how about a -2 str, +2 dex ... makes life a little more in-line with the core rules. don't forget to throw in the two-weapon fighting ability (maybe as a ranger, must be in light armor/light encumberance.) and a solid climb bonus.

Actually, yazirians more or less appear in the MM2 as cloaked apes. They might be a lil tough for a pc race, though- they get fast healing 3.

Actually about a year ago I started doing a conversion of Star Frontiers to d20. I have all the original books and I just loved the game. Anyway I got as far as races, classes, skills, and feats (and even coming up with a psionics system) before finally giving up. I realized it would be just too much work for just myself.

Anyway, I have zipped up my conversions of the Humans, Dralasites, Yazirians, Vrusk, and the infamous Sathar. Feel free to use as you see fit.

The "height" is the height from the ground, not counting their overall length. They are a horizontal creature. How "tall" would you be on your hands and knees?

yup, got it ... after I typed that I pulled out my Spelljammer MC1/2s and found the lenght, 6ft. (about 1 line from where you quoted)

"Yazirian".

It always makes me think of one of the few Hebrew words I know: "yetzir". It means "impulses" and appears in "Yetzirah" (the Kabbalistic realm of emotions and creativity) and in the terms "yetzir ra" (will to self, selfishness, rebelliousness) and "yetzir tov" (will to rightness, will to do good).

Could any wordplay have been going on?
