Have you ever put real thought into the Zombie Apocalypse?

My wife and I are fans of post-apocalyptic fiction, so we'll occasionally discuss such things for fun. I don't know if I'd call it "real" thought on it.

Prepare for zombies? No. Unless you mean preparing for a house-guest who needs coffee in the morning, zombies are for gedankenexperiment only.

But they don't tell us how to stop the Zombies!

Of course not. Since any individual is likely to end up as one of the zombies, and we don't know if these'll be "smart zombies", we don't want to leak that information

So so many more likely calamities that I'm more of a mix of the last two choice, "I understand the concept but cannot be bothered to care." Even alien invasion comes before it on my list of apocalyptic concerns and it's like number 182 on the list.

I've taken steps towards general disaster preparedness, some of which will overlap with preparations for a zombie apocalypse.

For instance, I know which of my neighbors looks the tastiest to eat and/or the easiest to catch in the case of a food shortage or infection with a zombie agent.

Have you cross-referenced that with a list of their useful skills? You don't want to eat a trained Navy Seal even if he did look tasty (assuming he didn't get you first, that is)...ditto someone who is a top-notch cook.

BTW, have I mentioned that I'm a top-notch cook?

No real thought, but if it was a zombie apocalypse , suicide is a safe and easy alternative to munching on my friends and family. Also, mercy killing is acceptable to keep them from munching on me.

What? I served 8 years in MI, we were expected to die gracefully if things went south, I made peace with killing myself if the situation warranted a long time ago.

I have...

I live in California, in the "San Angeles" metropolitan area. My house is a two story mini fortress and assuming the front bay window and courtyard can be completely blocked and no zombies areable to brake the side gate we can survive for several weeks to months because the house is two stories tall and we have fruit trees.

Unfortunately, no matter what, once the first raid happens on our house we probably would be screwed.
