Having fun at the races (Gambling and investing)

Aussiegamer

First Post
Since I detest wealth DC system I am putting an investing system in Nexus. I think it will add some colour to the RP.

I also looked at the gambling skill and have changed it, it was faulty and lets face it pretty lame.

So heres the highlights, I am also putting in the system for the $$ and DC mods for the below on my GM tool Kits Excel sheet and word file.

So any thoughts?

PC’s Investing Money
Character’s can invest their hard-earned cash and hopefully reap the long-term benefits.

Investing is like gambling, (see Gamble skill for DC and pay out examples), except the character use their Knowledge (Business) as the primary skill.
If a character gains some information then this can be used as a positive modifier for their check.
Note: Character must have at least one rank in each skill to invest.
The minimum period of an investment is 1 month. The longer the period reduces the DC of the check.

Gamble
Higher the risk the greater the returns.

Risk
This is the type of gamble or investment.
· The odds they are betting on as an example
· High risk but high yield stocks

Period
The risk tends to lessen over time, so the longer the period of gambling or investing the better chances of a return.

House
This is a GM set value for the gamble or investment. The easier the GM risk rate, then the power the final pay out will be in total.

Maximum Time Period
Gambling has a maximum of 1 week, where as investing has a maximum of 1 year turn around.

Skill Check
The skill check is done at the end of the period set.
Overwhelming failure means that the character actually ended up betting more than the starting amount. They lose an extra 25%
Major Failure: They lose an extra 10%
Failure: Just the starting amount lost
Success: the Pay Out (which includes the starting amount) is gained
Major Success: An extra 10% is gained
Overwhelming Success: an extra 25% is gained
