I liked it. I think some of the things they've done are improvements. Prince Adam isn't as muscular. Skeletor is more than a magic user, which means he can fight hand to hand. Some of the other characters (like Tri-klops) are less useless. The plot was decent, although it could have used some polishing.
They're doing a Captain Marvel thing now. Teenage Prince Adam says the magic words, and transforms into the most powerful man in the universe. What I don't like, is that they've given He-Man the mind of a teenage guy who is still basically a spoiled prince with a good heart. If I were doing it, the hero would also transform mentally, becoming more confident, more mature, wiser. Instead, He-Man does not have a plan, and makes some pretty lame fighting banter ("maybe you can return it for a refund"). Hopefully, this won't be as bad as I fear.
Did they offer a reason why He-Man needs a secret identity? It seemed so arbitrary here. Sure, I can come up with a dozen reasons on my own, but it's so patronizing for Sorceress and Man-at-Arms to say to Prince Adam, "you can't tell anyone you're He-Man" and that's it. His destiny is to become Eternia's greatest hero, treat him with a little respect.
The art was nice overall, and He-Man's haircut is definitely more modern, and an improvement. The original He-Man's voice was way cooler. I also miss the music from the original series. And the females in the original series (Teela, the Sorceress, and from She-Ra) were really sexy; not so much in this one. Not that that's a big deal, this is a kids' cartoon.
I'll keep watching. Good start, but much room for improvement.
