"Loris is with Bryllys, of course. Yes. And you are here with us, having failed your mission. Perhaps we could trade these documents Bryllys wants for Loris, for we have little interest in your affairs. Do you think Bryllys would consider this? It might put you back in his favor." Raven asks.

[sblock=Outside the eastern gate]As Shoot and Anvuss approach, the man steps out of the shadows, his arms crossed in front of his chest. From his face it is clear that he's seen better days, the scars showing both a lack of money for healing magic, as well as a rough life. There is a smirk on his face as he says, "Are you things lost? Or are you maybe lookin' fer sumthin' ... or somone?"[/sblock]

At Raven's questions, the cultist looks a little crestfallen. "I ... I've only met Bryllys once. I don't know where he and the assisstant are. Shiv comes by to give us Bryllys' orders from time to time. And sometimes he has us meet him at the casino. That's where I was going to take you." He shudders for a moment, "And since he went running at the sight of you, I don't think Shiv will want to talk. But ... but he might want those documents bad enough. That might get you to see him at least. But Bryllys ... my failure here has ensured my doom, I'll never know his blessings now." He says the last with a slightly lost look on his face and a note of hysteria in his voice. He wails and burys his face his his robe.

You're fairly sure that most of the "bats in his belfry" are dead (he's well past the line into crazy).

If they let this man be taken by the watch, they will never see him again and he will be no help. Raven makes a decision.

Stepping forward she begins to untie him. "Listen. Keep it together. You're going to be OK. ? I'm going to let you go. We only want Loris back. We have the docuemnts you need. You can take that information back to your leader. Then you can contact us and we can arrange a swap. We have the documentation. You wont' find it lying around here. You can find us at the Tower Shard inn. Just tell us three things. What's you name. Where is this Casino, and Where does Shiv come to meet you? We need to know this in case we need to contact you about Bryllys."

[sblock=Outside the eastern gate: ]Shoot waited for a couple of moments, thinking that Anvuss was very smart about such things and might have a good answer for the man. He decided that if Anvuss was tongue-tied for some strange reason, he'd speak up soon.[/sblock]

If it is your preference that we do battle, I would not wish to inconvenience you with an unseemly amount of discussion before hand, as I can see how that might be aggravating. Although I have heard it is common for villains to announce their master plan prior to engaging the heroes in battle, on the assumption that they will soon be destroying said heroes in any event. Should you wish to do so, please do not allow me to stop you."

Anvuss lets the heavy morningstar in his hand bob slightly as he awaits a response, violent or otherwise.[/sblock]

The cultist stares at Raven in disbelief for a moment. Then all of his answers try to come out of his mouth at once, "My name is William, the Casino is the Gilded Raven on Wicker Street, and Shiv comes by our ... home. We're squatters in the old Wicker Street Bakery building."

"Hey, good job" whispers Seat. "Try to find out something about the Codex now"

Tali simply stands near Seat and Raven, trying to look intimidating.

OOC: I don't suppose Tali's mindlink is still active? In any case, Raven tries to use her sense motive (+4) to see if he's lying.

BIC: Raven unties William. "You'll get your documentation & Bryllys will be happy. We'll get Loris back and we'll be happy. No problem. Let me just write this stuff down". She moves over to the Professer's desk and grabs some ink and paper.

OOC: I may be finageling here. If Raven can't find any ink, then you can just skip it.

BIC: Raven picks up an ink jar, and takes off the lid. She walks back towards William, then stumbles and sends ink flying towrds his face. "Oh, sorry!" she says.

OOC: Bluff roll to make it look like an accident: To hit roll to try to get ink into his face (& eyes), bluff 9; tohit 17

BIC: Raven writes down the information he has given, then will hand him back his sickle, but will keep all his other items. "Well, off you go. Remember, you can find us at the Tower Shard, if we don't find you first."

OOC: Raven's intention is twofold. She is going to follow him, so ink in the eye may reduce spot checks. Also, with ink on his face, he might be more inclined to keep his hood up to avoid people's attention. This would probably reduce his spot check for seeing that he's followed. For a 1st level PC w/44 skill ranks, Raven can't boast any ranks in intimidate, hide or move silently. :\
