D&D General Heart of an Honest Man

I’m going to be starting a game soon and one of the players is playing a light cleric. His back story is that the shrine of the local, small town, deity spoke to him and told him to “Bring back the heart” or “Seek out the heart of an honest man” (I should clarify which - although, he’s mentioned that his cleric is slightly worried the deity might be talking abouta physical heart).

So, with that ambiguous goal, he put down his farming implements and is setting out to explore the world searching for the ‘heart of an honest man.’

I have some ideas for what that could be but I’d be interested in hearing what ideas the community has.

If its a good deity, I'd say that he'd mean to possibly convert someone from a life of pettiness and thievery into a life of honesty and chivalry. Whether that's the player's character, a party member, or an NPC is all up to you.

If its an evil deity, they could kill and remove the heart of a good-hearted human, though if its a light cleric I doubt the god is necessarily evil.

If its a neutral deity, they could mean to literally bring a good-hearted individual physically in their presence (living body included) and convert them into the deity's specific religious sect.

You could get really vague and have a man that raises harts, or deer. One of those deer is selected for sacrifice or contains the spirit of the god's avatar.

I also picture the PC 'accidently' dropping gold on the street and hoping someone will be all; "Mister, you dropped some gold in the street and I'm the only one honest to return it to you."
