Heathen

I'm getting ready to run Heathen next weekend. It's the first time for me to DM in quite a while and it's the first chance the players will have had to play the 4th edition rules.

Probable Spoiler Warning!

Has anyone run this adventure through yet? What where your experiences?

What figs did you use for the various monsters? I'm especially curious about what you used for Jaryn, Dopplegangers, Zombie Hulks, and Hobgoblin Warcasters.

I think I'm going to change the Blazing Skeleton into the zombie that throws rotten flesh bombs, uh, Corruption Corpse? (don't have my MM at hand). I might also change the Dragonborn Soldiers and the Tiefling into Chilborn and a Rotwing.

Yes, I like zombies. They seem to fit into the whole "death cult" thing better than tieflings and dragonborn.

That is an adventure for 5th level characters. There are 2 preview modules to download from WOTC if you are a Herald Level GM in the RPGA (well actually just 1 the other preview is the Kobold adventure in the back of the DMG). I would also look at the supplements they put out for H1. The 1st 2 encounters could be run just after the Kobold adventure in the DMG to setup the characters to start in H1. Then there are 2 more encounters that happen in H1 as well.

But if you feel comfortable GM'ing a 5th level mod and your players are capable of playing 5th level characters in the new system then more power to ya :)

Yeah, we're all experienced (*cough*old*cough*) gamers.

I've created 5 5th level characters for them to use. It is
still D&D, so in the worst case scenario I'll make someone roll a d20 and make up a DC and modifiers.

There's nothing like diving into the deep end for learning how to swim!

Yeah I am OG myself. But I find it to be most beneficial to learn from the ground up in a new system. Luckily it is enough mechanics wise similar to 3.X so that wont be a problem.
