I'd go with the mace. It's low upkeep. Morningstars would require that you periodically make sure the spikes are still sharp.

Maces never need sharpening, and they work just fine even when rusty.

Lathander's favored weapon is the Mace. Go with the Mace, for purely role-playing reasons.

Otherwise, besides sundering, the morning star is a superior weapon (adds piercing, weighs less, costs less).

And for maximal effect, choose GOLDEN HEAVY MACE. That is very Lathander (Could it be called Heavy Heavy Mace?)
