Holy smokes. Gold is half-again heavier than mercury? My father used to have a jar of mercury that was about 12 ounces and I swear the thing weighed 20 lbs. I can't imagine what holding a brick of gold bullion would feel like.
I've heard that at Fort Knox when you took the tour they would show you a brick of gold bullion and tell you that anyone who could pick it up with one hand could have it. I think they were pretty sure no one could lift it to make a deal like that.
