Our party just did a reincarnation last night. Now, 2 of our party members have been reincarnated, a halfling was reincarnated into a human and a human into a halfling. :)
 Now THAT'S ironic :D

tiltedhead, your story was awesome - glad to hear you're having fun :)

Oh, and welcome to the boards :)

I've gone back to the 2ed reincarnation tables, especially the one found in the Complete Humanoid's Handbook. Sure, it's divided into Druid and Wizard lists, but I assing a simple 60/40 percentile into Druid/Wizard. Wizard has the cooler reincarnation table anyway. :P

Having no recollection of that table, what does it look like? I assume it's more numerous if yer using that instead...

Well, IDHTBIFOM, but in short... the Wizard reincarnation table supports all the "new" races that are listed in the Complete Humanoid's HB. So, a Wizardly reincarnation could have you come back as a mongrelman, Lizardman, or Ogre Mage, for example. The Druid one has your typical animals but also adds in fey such as centaurs, wemics, pixies and satyrs.

I always thought there should be a longer reincarnation list made, especially with all the new splatbooks. Would make that spell MUCH more interesting, IMO.

Interesting story, btw.

I make my own reincarnation tables for my games. They include all the races on my race list, a couple of monster races and intelligent animals. There's one chance for animal, and if rolled the player rolls on another table for which animal. I chose a handful of animals that I thought wouldn't be a complete drag to play. There's a chance for the PC's original race, a chance to roll twice and pick which you want, and 100% is DM's choice.

There's also a gender chart. 49% male, 49% female, 1% intersexed and 1% neuter.

The charts haven't seen much use, yet, and no one's rolled any of the unusual options. Though one amusing anecdote is as follows: PC is new (player's previous character had died the game before) and has joined the quest to search out a missing paladin. In the night they are seeing flashes of a white creature beyond the trees. Two characters are (correctly) guessing that it's the paladin's mount. The new guy doesn't believe them, and shoots a magic missile at it. The next day, he's killed by wolves, and the party finds a Random Forest Druid (tm) to reincarnate him. And what does he roll? Centaur. I made a quick list of colors for the horse part and he rolled...white. And female, just like the mount. I thought it was funny. He brought in a new character.

Surreal ... the worst thing that ever happened to me was a halfling thief coming back as an ogre mage. But that was back in the day....

Your story is much more interesting. ;)
