Help! Classified Government Report

What would you do if you came across a classified government report that you thought other people would find really interesting?

Let's not beat around the bush. I came into possession of just such a report. (Exactly how, I probably shouldn't say.) I think you guys would think it's pretty cool. I think it would be awesome to use, possibly as a prop, in just the right sort of game. As an example, what if you got your hands on a report that said they had alien bodies in Area 51?

However, and this is a big however, there's some nasty "official" language on the cover that says disseminating it is a crime.

What would you do? I'm leaning toward posting it because, well, it's just so freaking cool. Someone chime in and push me over the edge.

Just to clarify, you are an attorney, right? Is there a statutory cite? Any client information that would violate any professional code?

If you'd like, I can set up an atty-client relationship and review it for you. ;)

I can't speak for ENWorld, I'm not a mod or anything like that...

But offering to post CLASSIFIED information, no matter how it was gained, is, during a time of war or peace, if it involves national security, can range from a felony, to high treason.

And since more than a few of us who post here are involved with the Federal Government, it might not be a great idea to brag about having grabbed classified data.

My advice?

Delete it. Then pretend you never heard of it.

Offering to post it, in addition to bragging you have it, is pretty stupid.

I'm glad my post was taken in the spirit in which it was intended.

Lest the joke spin horribly out of control, here goes: R.J. Grady, the technical advisor on our Dawning Star, put together a really cool "official" governmental report on the Star Confederation genetic seeding program. You can download it for free HERE. I could see a creative GM (with a little help from Kinko's) turning this into some really cool handout for the players. Enjoy!

You posted while I was composing mine. I can see my decision to put a short leash on the joke was a good one. Sorry if I created undue hubub. Just thought it would be a fun intro for a fun piece.

I disagree. That government report is not boring enough to look official. ;)

Amusing anecdote. A gentelman I worked with learned missile theory in a course which used principles of Soviet missiles as the centerpeice of the course of study. One student asked why American missiles weren't used, to which the teacher could only reply that the details are classified. A student asks if the Soviet missile plans were classified in the USSR. "Oh, probably." Another asks if the Russians were using our classified missile plans to study. "Oh, probably."

Glad it was a joke, man.

I've been on a couple boards where people posted stuff that they thought was "classified" that they'd gotten from one site and another, and didn't want to see you get banned or anything for it.

I'll probably take a look at it tonight. :)
