Help creating a Druid character

Stat wise, no, but they are considered proficient with all bows (composite as well as regular long and short bows), longspears, short spears, and quarterstaves. They also get +2 bonus to Craft (tattoo). and their favored class is either Druid or Ranger.

Another option for a druid is a Renewer or Initate of the Ram if you are consider Denev related Pr-classes. I would suggest that if you do get a weak str, don't take Initiate of the Ram. They require Improved Bull Rush. But Renewer would be interesting, especially with its raging ability and favored enemy.

Con is a lot better than Cha. You still use your natural con for hp, and when not wild shaped, for fort and some good skills (Concentration being a vital one). Cha is just for social skills.
The polymorph description sounds differently... About the CON. At least in 3.5. Hmm.

Are there official comments about whether you keep your hitpoints or not?

Polymorph says "like Alter Self" which states you keep your hit points.

I know, but well, since you keep your ability scores while using Alter Self, that's not really an argument :D

This has been discussed a lot in the Rules section, so I don't really want to start that same discussion again.... I simply wanted to know whether there is an official comment about it (please not Custserv).

Halfling druid!

For Wildshape questions, Might I point you to this thread, which has a nice summary (that I wrote with the help of other posters) at the end of it:

-----
Also, might I suggest that you consider becoming a halfling druid! As a druid, Halflings work really well, here are some of the benefits:
>>> +1 bonus to slings and darts (and possibly shortspears), which are druid weapons.
>>> Longstrider spell allows 30 ft movement for hours at a time.
>>> The spell Produce Flame is a thrown weapon, so you get a +1 bonus to hit with it, plus it has no range penalty.
>>> +1 to HIT for being small, also helps those ranged spells.
>>> High dexterity and +1 AC bonus for being small negates armor limitations.
>>> With a Riding Dog animal companion, you can be mounted and in a five-by-five square.
>>> Ride is a now a druid skill.
>>> Wild shaping into a medium-sized creature, with a 30 or greater move is helpful (although you lose your +1 to hit and AC).
-----------
My 4th-level druid, Dunleary Thorngage, ends up having a +10 to hit with his Sling. +3 BAB, +1 with Slings, +1 magical sling, +1 within 30 feet with Point Blank Shot, +4 with a 19 Dex. I was hitting like crazy on my first night out, although that darn Grey Render we ran into didn't seem to mind!

Gnome Druid is also a great choice, though I don't know what alterations to Gnomes there are in the Scarred Lands. With a gnome, you can make CON your dump stat, and if you have at least a 10 CON, you won't have any penalties to speak of.

Uhm just a reminder John, halflings in the Scarred Lands get treated with a lot of disdain. So be forwarned.
That's very true, but my DM seems to have forgotten that fact. I had a halfling rogue (before my halfling druid) that I made cower and act all fidgetty when he was around non-party member common races. My DM never picked up on what I was doing before the character died in "The Snake in the Fold" module. ~shrug~

Dump Stat: For me, charisma is a good druid dump stat. Yes, it interferes with your animal empathy, but that isn't really that big of a deal. By the middle levels, actually running into animals begins to become rare.

I would make sure you have at least a 13 strength so that you can take power attack, cleave and greater cleave. An animal growthed dire tiger form at high levels gives you lots of AoOs. If you have combat reflexes and great cleave, your druid can turn into a meat grinder real fast.

Race: I like dwarves. Dwarven druids tend to actually make a lot of sense given the connection between dwarves and the earth. Their racial abilities make them rather nasty, though they lose those in animal form. Also, a dwarven druid can multiclass into fighter for 1 level and gain a bonus feat, better weapon selection and the possibility of putting together some nice ironwood full plate armor for urban adventures at high level.

Missile weapons: Produce fire is a nice spell for providing missile weapons at low levels. You'll hit a lot and do pretty decent damage.
