Help finding a Dwarven miniature

I'm looking for a miniature for one of the players in my campaign. He's playing a dwarven rogue who uses a morningstar and a short bow. So I'd like to find a dwarven mini with leather armor and a bow, or a morningstar/mace. Any ideas? Usually I can find something for just about any character mini I need, but I'm striking out on this one.

Your best bet is the archer dwarf from Essex miniatures. I cannot find a picture of him online - although you will need to trim a metal plate or two off.

Wargames foundry carries a line of Norse Dwarves that are lightly armored, however, they do not have the exact arms you seek.

Good luck!

This guy is pretty cool too, but it's a crossbow.

(Snorri #14130 from Reaper's Warlord line)

A morning star can be converted fairly easily for most dwarves. Simply by a figure wielding and axe, trim off the axe head, and replace it with a round bead of the appropriate size. If you need spikes on the ball use the tips of round tooth picks or dabs of glue for knobs.

I don't think you're going to find a mini that you won't have to do a weapon swap on. My search fu didn't come up with anything better either.

The GW LOTR Dwarves with the bows are excellent. I own those 3.
You could trim away an axe head (they have them tucked in their belts if I remember correctly) and put a morningstar on.

The guy with the crossbow from Reaper is pretty wicked (Thanks Kengar. I might have to pick that one up on principle)
I'd consider replacing the crossbow with the morningstar and slinging a bow across his back.

The weapon swapping is the easiest of conversions to try.

I'll probably just go with the GW dwarves, and foget the conversion of the axe to a morningstar. I just want it to be relatively accurate, it doesn't have to be perfect. I may give a try with one of the other two after I get his painted, just to try converting. My past conversion experiences have all been disasters though, so I don't look forward to doing much.

Thanks for the help!

I would do exactly the same thing. A dwarf with a bow, lightly armored is a pretty good match.

On the conversions, don't stress about it.
There are some simple things to keep in mind that might help.

1. Start simple and work into areas you like.
2. Use the right tools.
A drill press and small drill bits.
A good set of need files.
Good CA glue (like Zap a Gap)
Sharp knife blades for your favorite x-acto handle.
Either a jewellers saw or a x-acto saw blade.
There are a lot more, but these can handle the basics.
3. Save any extra bits from minis and models.
4. Learn to use some kind of epoxy putty (green stuff, magic sculp, milliput, etc.)
5. Convert plastics first. GW plastics are easy to convert and make creative mini's with. They're darn good sculpts too. (Some people have issues with the price, but I hope we can leave that for a separate discussion)
6. Practice patience.

If you can paint quality mini's, then you can do quality conversions. Trust me!
