Help for Dissertation - survey about video games

UniHH

First Post
Dear Community,

this online questionnaire has been developed as a part of my dissertation at the Institute of marketing and media at the University of Hamburg ( Universität Hamburg - Lehrstuhl für Marketing und Medienmanagement ). And I really need your support!!!

Click http://ww3.unipark.de/uc/questionnaire2/ to start the survey.

I’m researching gaming behavior. The survey will take approx. 8-10 minutes. I assure you, that all your data will be handled anonymously and solely be used for my diploma thesis. Note: The purpose of this survey is purely scientific without any commercial interests.

As a thank-you and incentive for your participation all questionnaires which have been entirely completed will be entered into a lottery of Amazon gift coupons.
Important note: It is not our intention to collect your email addresses – the participation in the raffle is completely voluntary and no MUST for the survey.

Many thanks for your support – each participant counts! :D

Madeleine

P.S.: This is no spam!!! Morrus just said I’m allowed to post this!

I was unsure how to most accurately answer some of the questions.

In particular, the question about what I felt it meant to 'start a game early' was one I had a difficult time answering. Mostly because I don't believe I've ever used that terminology in regards to games. I did choose an answer, but the answer I chose was an arbitrary choice just to choose something because I had to choose something.

Really don't think I was the target market for that survey... Heck the game I've been playing most recently a pre-order beta release for an indy X-Com clone called Xenonauts. I guess that makes me an early adopter, but I'm not sure it counts since it's a clone of a game released in 1993... The last AAA (or at least AA) title I played close to the release date was Shogun 2.

Some of the questions are a little odd too, but I think that might be translation issues. I'm wondering about the "I would buy the next video game or add-on within the first week after the release." I'm not sure what you're talking about here... Would I buy the next video game released within the first week? Almost certainly not. I'm intrigued by Deus Ex but I think that other games will be coming out within the next month or whatever.
