Help for getting started on PCGen?

Is this a program someone with little/no programming experience can use effectively?

Its been a very long time since my basic programming studies back at uni and I'm not familiar with Java.

What steps do I have to take to start using PCGen for my campaign?

Yes, there is plenty of help available! Ask away! Your best bet is on the yahoo group for generic help, and there is a bookmark section on the group that has links to other places (FAQ, Website, PCGenView (PalmOS version), etc).

If none of those appeal to you, then I'd be more than happy to answer your questions here.
