Help - I need a new disposable friend.

A character of mine needs a new cohort... some help and/or extra ideas would be much appreciated. 3.5 core rules would be best - makes things easier....

I'm playing Jack Pikey - a Pelor worshiping Dwarven Fighter/Cleric/Hospitaler. He's a non-huggable (spiky armoured) combat monster created after the 3rd or 4th character death from trawling Rappun Athuk.

It's not my usual sort of character, but I've grown attatched to the little guy. Anyway, we've 'tactically withdrawn' from the evil dungeon and are back on to (slightly!) more sane kinds of adventuring...

I'm looking for a cohort to fill my long empty leadership feat. I qualify for a 7th-8th level one - depending on exactly what 'great reknown' means. I've had a few concept ideas so far:

a)An interesting mount of some sort to go with my mounted combat feats.
b)Something thats a bit like a familiar.
c)A bard to sing flattering songs about me.
d)Someone to make up for my non existant social skills.
e)Another thing that I havn't thought of yet.

If something combines some of those, that'd be fine. If it's a non combatant that'd be OK. I don't even mind if they're 'useless but interesting'.

Stealing a great idea: I tried suggesting a pixie, with mounted combat feats, to sit on the characters head and 'steer' him/etc... the DM threw dice at me, then got a nasty glint in his eye and then agreed - consider that idea dropped! :)

Take a AU faen spryte with psion levels. Put him on your helmet, give him Mounted combat...

See. See. It's completely different to the pixie - look - it's in the big rule book. Waaah. Waaaah!

The psion bit is even better... Deep Impacting spirited charge. Mmmm, tastes cheesy!

Unfortunately, my GM got the evil eye glint when I mentioned head mounted riders... I don't know what sort of horrible idea he came up with and I have almost no wish to find out... :)

We miss you, Al. :D

Are you going back into Rappan Athuk? If so, a rogue optimized for trap searching might make sense. You can even give him or her perform (hero worship) to get your own PR person!

Do what Storminator did IMC, have the cohort be an intelligent magic weapon (using one of the many leveling techniques for magic items).

Hmm. Let the pixie take paladin levels and ask your DM for the Mount abilities :D?

But I guess the DM will NPC your rider then ... "Into battle!"

A 7th level character is pretty butch. Such a character deserves some back-story :)

How about a former thief and con-man who has "seen the light of Pelor" and now acts as your squire (while trying to prove himself and enter the priesthood). He's got Rogue levels, of course, from his "dark days" but now uses his skills in the service of Pelor.

Your DM will love it for the automatic story hooks, plus if he's charismatic he can cover your social deficits, too.

Good to see you about! Hope things going well...

Not sure whether we're going back to Rappan Athuk - It's scary in there! Besides we've wandered into Homebrewland and looks like there's plenty to keep us busy.

Someone else got a sneaky/trappy halfling cohort.

I've got time for Perform: Hero Worship... although I could be tempted to make it a profession for them instead...

For some reason, I'm tempted with a gnomish alienist cohort. But two spellcasters would just be greedy :)
