PRD Development Begins
The Free Gaming Association is please to announce that, starting today, we are beginning the methodical process of creating an open, extensible set of reference documents for use with the Prometheus logo and all similar systems.
Over the next nine weeks, we will focus on one part of the core rules, expanding and clarifying the extant Open Gaming Content into a form easily usable by any publisher, designer, or individual game master. For more information on this project, see http://www.theFGA.com/.
PRD Format

The PRD will contain, to begin with, the 35SRD text, with commentary on the changes from 3.0 to 3.5 and additional "missing rules" added by the FGA. We will later add the MSRD and other variant rules. (The FGA board will adopt and publish a policy on what a producer has to do to have their OGC become "part of the PRD.")
Submissions
Anyone may submit a formatted part of the SRD for inclusion in the PRD, preferably by joining FGA-Prometheus but direct messages to the list-owner are also permissible. Development on each section will be open, with any person who submits or collaborates on a section getting credit, until the "close date" of each section, whereupon they will be placed on www.theFGA.com for public use.
The preferred format for submissions is OpenOffice's XML writer format, which is both small and designed for a program that's free for anyone to use. DOCs and RTFs (or other word processor files) are also acceptable for submissions, though use of text styles is highly encouraged.
The final files will be available in OpenOffice, DOC, RTF, HTML, and "dirty" (not cleaned) PDF.
Calendar
Each section of the PRD will be open for submission until the day that it is "closed." Once closed, each section of the PRD will be updated only on a case-by-case basis. "Close Date" Calendar follows:
Monday, 3/1/04 : Basic rules, experience, races, and classes close.
Monday, 3/8/04 : Core, NPC, and basic Prestige classes close
Monday, 3/15/04 : Skills & Feats close.
Monday, 3/22/04 : Equipment, description, and general adventuring rules close.
Monday, 3/29/04 : Combat, Spellcasting, and Magic rules close.
Monday, 4/5/04 : Special Conditions, Locations, and Special abilities close
Monday, 4/12/04 : Spells close.
Monday, 4/19/04 : Magical Items close.
Monday, 4/26/04 : Monsters close. Whole text is closed, and formatting process begins
