I like Dr. Zoom's suggestion. Cleave has powerful synergy with that Spirited Charged reach weapon.
Paladin's just do not have the feats for the spirited charge route without fighter levels.
If you want minmaxing I would suggest:

If you want minmaxing I would suggest:
(1) Half-Celestial Light Warhorse. Same CR as a standard Paladin Warhorse. Only stronger, faster, and with wings (usually).
(2) Horseshoes of Spider Climb. Cheap, and it will let your mount go into otherwise inaccessible places. You better put a seatbelt on that saddle.
