Help me choose new Sorcerer spells (3.0)

Of course, in 3.0 there is the Wall of Force cheese effect of using a sphere/hemisphere to trap an opponent smaller than 1ft/caster level with no save and no spell resistance! Rather beats out Force Cage :)

How is that cheesy? It's one of the things the spell was designed to do.

Are Greater Shadow Evocation/Conjuration worth taking? They seem to make a sorcerer really versatile, but I rarely hear mention of them.

No save, no spell resistance, no 1500gp of ruby dust and two levels lower than force cage?

3.0 haste, then cloudkill/acid fog/etc + wall of force sphere trapping you inside it with no way of avoiding the damaging effect?

Big wall of cheese :D

Dimension Door. The fighters are on their own :D

PS: cloudkill and acid fog both allow SR, in 3.0. In 3.5 they're really wicked powerful.

I don't know... I was planning to learn SC or GSC when I was at low level, but at the end it seemed that non-combat effects were going to be very ineffective, so I lost interest in the spell.

When my sorcerer started under 3.0 they were definitely on my list due to their flexibility.

However when 3.5 appeared their level change made them worthless to me (along with my plans to obtain Emotion, Eyebite, Symbol... all those useful multi-function spells that were split up for some reason.)

My sorcerer took shadow conjuration and shadow evocation. Mostly because I am a gnome and have SF, GSF (illusion). I have never used shadow conjuration yet and will swap it out at my next opportunity. I love shadow evocation though. You get to choose your wall spell... or I can fire off a fireball at a much higher DC than I could with heighten spell. Of course if you pick wall of force and you aren't specialized in illusion, it probably is not too great.
