Help me compile class and race level names

I am thinking of developing some talent trees / feat progression paths for a fantasy setting using d20 modern. I am trying to track down all of the class level names from Ad&d (i.e. 1st level cleric: acolyte) as well as the racial level names for the elves, dwarves, hobbits, etc from Basic D&D. I seem to recall the racial levels had names like Sherriff for Hobbits. I want to use these names as inspiration and/or titles for the talent tree / feat paths.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The Basic D&D "racial level names" are simple in that you just stuck the race name before the class name. So: "dwarf veteran", "dwarf warrior", "dwarf swordsman", etc.; "halfling veteran", "halfling warrior", "halfling swordsman", etc.; "elf veteran-prestidigitator", "elf warrior-evoker", "elf swordsman-conjurer", etc.

The one and only exception as the OP picked up on was the halfling title of "sheriff" at their terminal 8th level.

1st ed anti-paladin had some cool names didnt it?

Perhaps, but that was a magazine article, never published in an actual rulebook. If you're thinking of compiling every NPC class that ever appeared in Dragon magazine for a few decades, that's a much bigger project.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but it deserves it, and I'm waxing nostalgic today. The class level names were a seemingly trivial thing, but I absolutely loved them. It made me look forward to reaching the next level, especially when it had a cool title.

Once the monks had to start fighting to reach next level that was kind of scary, and I had a monk die in one of the fights. But the titles were great, and I wish they had those now. They would have to be changed slightly, but they would really help once characters reached Paragon tier and beyond.

Legend
Note that the level titles are a little different in BECMI- I don't have the material these days, but I distinctly recall a 1st level MU being a "medium" (which became a "prestidigitator" in 1e).

BECMI Titles Follow:

Cleric
Acolyte
Adept
Priest
Vicar
Curate
Elder
Bishop
Lama
Patriarch
10 Level Patriarch (et al)
At 9th level a Neutral Cleric could change to a Druid per the Companion Rules (thereby changing their title to Druid)

Fighter
Titles are the same except that the third level "Swordsman" is inexplicably changed to "Swordmaster"
Fighter's of 9th level and higher that didn't want to own land became a wandering fighter and became either a Paladin, Knight or Avenger (G/N/E). G/E Fighters could also become knights if they would prefer. The title however didn't appear to change.

Magic-User
Medium
Seer
Conjurer
Magician
Enchanter
Warlock
Sorcerer
Necromancer
Wizard
10th Level Wizard (et al)

Thief
Apprentice
Footpad
Robber
Burglar
Cutpurse
Sharper
Pilferer
Thief
Master Thief
10th level Master Thief (et al)

Dwarf - add Dwarven in front of the Fighter Titles

Elf - combine the Fighter and Magic-User titles placing the Fighter title first

Halfling - Titles are the same as Fighter except with Halfling in front of the titles until 8th level where the title becomes Sheriff
