What would a paladin code based on Superman look like?

I imagine it would look a lot like the Principled alignment from Palladium:

• Always keep your word.
• Avoid lies.
• Never kill or attack an unarmed foe.
• Never harm an innocent.
• Never torture for any reason.
• Never kill for pleasure.
• Always help others.
• Work well in a group.
• Respect authority, law, self-discipline, and honor.
• Never betray a friend.

A list like this is not necessarily universal, though. Different societies have different values. A society which claims vengeance as the highest virtue would probably not have a problem with killing for pleasure (or at least replace it with "never let a slight go unanswered"), while a society which prides itself on the self-reliance of the individual might frown on a paladin going around coddling the weak. This is why I think it is important for the DM to define whether alignment in his world is subjective or absolute, lest the players project their real-world values onto the make-believe world.

Considering Supes' behavior in the recent movie, I'd say he's due for an Atonement spell right about now. I mean, fathering an illegitimate child and then erasing the mom's memory of his conception? Using his x-ray vision to spy on said mom and her new family? Yeesh.

Besides I was more basing Supes less on his movie side than his comic side.

To build a list, read the first chapter of the Book of Exalted Deeds, then build the specific examples that they provide on how to be good into a list of questions.

Not a bad start, but I think that something more "realistic" might work for some people. You know, an actual code, like that of Arthur and his knights, etc.
