Help Me Find a Prestige Class?

Tar Markvar

First Post
My human cleric of Fharlanghn just turned level 10, and I'm starting to look around for decent prestige classes. I don't have Defenders of the Faith or the other splatbooks, but I could get them if I needed to. None of the Prestige Classes I've seen would work for a wiry, Dex-based cleric of Travel and Luck.

Any ideas?

Greetings Tar.

The 'Mystic Wanderer' from "Magic of Faerun" might be a good idea. some of it's abilities are dependent on not wearing armour. You also get your CHR bonus to AC, as well as DEX bonus. Most of the abilities (gem magic & greater potion) will make you a good temp magic item producer. you also get a few (sleep, suggestion, charms) mind affecxting abilities. And a familiar to boot...

The contemplative (DoTF) would also be a good choice. At first level, you would get 1 of 2 new domains... which would have to be the Celerity Domain. This would give you +2 DEX (enhancement), +10ft speed (lt. armour), +2 initiative (enhancement)... all supernatural. This domain also has really good spells (cat's grace, haste, mass haste, time stop, etc.).

The Contemplative will also get you immuities to diseases & poisons, a second save vs mind affecting, lay on hands, spell resistance, and damage resistance, etc. And all you need to jump into this PrC is a 13+ rank in religion, and what good cleric wouldn't have that by 10th level...

Both of these PrCs add to your casting level also... Don't take a PrC unless it adds to your casting level.

I guess that's it for now...

If your DM id lenient, you may be alble to rework the Fatespinner from T&B so that it works for divine magic instead of acrane.

Post your skill ranks, feats, BAB and base saves. Those are the most commonly used prereqs, and it will be easier to find you a PrC if you have them listed.

Hmm... There was a speed-related class in Dragon magazine called the Fleet Runner of Elhonna that could be adapted to Fharlanghn.

Well, my BAB, saves, and the like are straight 10th-level cleric. I don't have the sheet here at the moment, so the exact numbers escape me. I believe the BAB is +7/+2, and there's no chance in hell of my remembering the base saves. ;)

His Knowledge (religion) is also very high; if not at 13, it's at 12. Another thing I will have to check out.

I'm looking for the sort of thing that Fharlanghn would grant a beloved servant. I mean, clerics of Travel deities advance by travelling a certain amount of miles... well, Felix has been to no fewer than three different planets and a number of space stations, and along with his companions, he is the first native of his home planet to travel beyond the horizon (we're crossing over Kalamar with Dragonstar). You'd think that'd make Fharlanghn take notice. :)

Does your DM allow homebrew? I know there are about a dozen variations on traveling (Wayfarer) classes on the WotC PrC boards. I even have one. ;)

But that said, the Mystic Wanderer is good one, but you need a few ranks in many different spells. Prereqs are: Nonlawful alignment, Alchemy 3, Diplomacy 8, Knowledge (nature) 3, Perform 3, Profession (herbalist) 3, Iron Will, and 2nd level divine spells. Mystic Wanderer can be found in the Magic of Faerun.

Also Harper Priest could be modified (from MaoF as well). Ever considered the Wayfarer's Guild from Tome and Blood? That could be modified for a divine caster as well. And have you checked out the Manual of the Planes? There are some in there that might suit your fancy.

Perhaps the Devine Agent from (MoP), You say you have traveled to several different Planets, just a small hop and you could make it to another Plane and have the prereq's covered. Seems like a Plane-hopping PC would definately get the smile of aproval from Fharlanghn.

So many abbreviations! What's an MoP? Master of Puppets?

I'm the DM for a lot of the time, but my PC is considered a PC for advancement purposes (we've sorta introduced "DM Experience" to keep our PCs up to date with the rest of them when we DM), and obviously he needs to be cool for when I'm not DMing. So I need to find a class that I won't be arbitrarily giving myself, unless I want to make him a full-time NPC.

At lvl. 10 he definitely has Plane Shift, so going to another plane isn't a hardship. He could do that.

So far the best-sounding one is the Contemplative, though I seem to remember them taking a hit-die-type hit.

Any others?

MotP: Manual of the Planes.

Personally I wish I could remember what Pr-classes were in Quin Cleric. Perhaps Psion could make a recommendation since he's already reviewed the book.
