Help me Gear Up My Lizardfolk

I'm about to start playing a lizardfolk at level 3--once I advance in level, I plan on becoming a monk (possibly taking levels in tattooed monk once I am high enough--and can figure out how you tattoo somebody with scales...). I have 2000gp to work with. I'm lousy at picking gear for characters, can some guru of gear give me good guidance?

I had thought about Bracers of Armor +1...

My adjusted ability scores are S18, D14, C18, I12, W14, Cha10.

I'm thinking about Improved Natural Armor for my feat, but I haven't really thought to hard about that.

Looking at the 1800 gp stuff (leaving you a bit left over for weapons and misc gear), a hat of disguise might be handy if you scales are going to be a problem in town.

OTOH, as a monk you don't necesarily need weapons, and as a lizardman you don't need clothes, so you could spend the whole 2000 gp on a single item. That would get you bracers or armour+2 or a handy haversack (great item, I allways have one for any character as soon as I can afford it, although you wouldn't have anything to put in it).

With this sort of stats to start, I'm not sure this is the best investment of the feat. Maybe later in life this would help, but you'd gain the same boost in AC from an item that grants +2 dex or (when a monk) +2 wis. Lizard folk have insanely good nat armour anyways.

Dodge or Power attack would both help, or Weapon Focus (unarmed).

You should also confirm with your DM how a monk's flurry will relate to your natural attacks--there are different views on this.
