Help me get caffinated!

QFT.... :(

Same here. I have been drinking coffee since I was something like 10.
I started around 13. Having to get up at 6AM for high school is what lead to my caffeine addiction.

These days, my 24 oz morning coffee keeps me going for about 7-9 hours.

Kahuna; Try heating up about an ounce of water, pour in a teaspoon of instant coffee into it. Drop in an ice cube and just drink it real fast.

There are these wonderful things called caffeine pills. They're pure concentrated caffeine in a neat little pill.

At times combined with no-doze jolt, chocolate, go-pills, I've stayed awake for anywhere up to five or six days at a time when time was pressing. Though you're not really much use after the fourth day.

Or do it the I-just-need-6-more-hours-before-deadline way: Heat a teaspoon of water and put it in an ounce of instant coffee. (Ok, so you might need a tablespoon, but it is liquid, tastes horrible, but goes well with chockolate chip cookies and 'Dew)

It depends on the person. I drink maybe 3-4 sodas a day (38 mg*4 < 2 Excedrin), and I can definitely feel the effects (headaches) when I go a day without. Then again, I have been drinking sodas for a prolonged period.

There is significant variation of sensitivity, sure. But as you note, you've got a long-term pattern of intake. You should still not be seeing withdrawal symptoms after a single dose of Excedrin.

Also, we must beware confounding bias. For example - 4 sodas is about three-quarters of your recommended daily intake of water. If you go without much of that water, you'll be dehydrated, and that'll also cause headaches.

Now, let us attach the two. Say you've got a day where, for some reason, you're prone to a headache. You take caffeine-laden Excedrin. Caffeine, among other things, is a mild diuretic. So, if you don't also increase your water intake, you can end up slightly dehydrated afterwards. Then the Excedrin wears off, and you now have yet another thing making you prone to the return of a headache.

Better living through chemistry does require we be careful about the fiddly details. :)

From my years in Key West I pesent for your consideration the ...

Con Leche

Basically take a lot of milk and heat it up to scalding. Add to this a couple (or more) shots of fine Cuban expresso, typically taken from the slop bucket of cuban expresso shots and add plenty of sugar. It's hot milk with a real caffene KICK!

How much kick? I used to have one grande con leche every day save Saturday when I slept late. Every Sunday I suffered massive caffene withdrawal headaches. But honestly, when you drink a grande con leche and have some buttered slices of toasted cuban bread it is really the breakfast of champions!
