Names: the bane of my existence. It sometimes seems like I spend half of the prep time for my games just coming up with suitable names for the people, places and things in my campaign world. So I thought I’d seek the help of the community at large on this one.
Here’s the deal: recently a group of power-hungry cultists awakened a very bad individual from the world’s past (a fey Rememberer created using Goodman Games Complete Guide to Fey), who has set about returning his people from exile. This particular group of fey are remembered by folklore as the ‘hunters of men’, and are responsible for the myths of the Wild Hunt which are prevalent in the area.
Anyway, I won’t be introducing this guy for quite a while (the PC’s are only 4th level, and would be badly outmatched), but I want to start the rumors early. My question is, by what name(s) would he be remembered in popular myth? Others of his kind were referred to by distinguishing characteristics, such as Redthorn (named for the odd looking sword he used), and Nettlecloak. I’m looking for something a little more menacing for this fellow, though. In his natural form he appears as a tall, gaunt, corpse-like humanoid with flowing white hair and wrinkled, age-spotted skin which is always covered in fresh blood. He is associated with death, ill fortune, lycanthropy, winter, and the red moon (there being two moons in the sky above this world).
Again, proper names aren’t so important here. I’m just looking for some suitably spooky euphemisms. Thanks in advance!
edit: silly grammatical mistake
