Help me name my campaign setting!

Finnish sounds brutal, doesn't it?

It is the reason Eurovision competitors are allowed to sing in either their own language or English.

Finnish is only really appropriate for battle dirges. Can you believe 'I love you' in Finnish is 'Minä rakastan sinua'.

A real leg-opener, don'cha think?

Just gonna toss out some stuff brainstorming style and see if anything grabs or inspires you.

:D

I like.

Tomorrow, I plunder.

What, No Elves?

Alas, yes, there are elves. The elves who wanted to sally forth and help the humans sank all their money into magical research and became the liosilven, the light elves (the luminous, modified, from FFG's Mythic Races). Their favored class is the battle sorcerer from Unearthed Arcana.

The elves who wanted to stick to the woods and protect their own tushes became the treailven, the tree elves (the spring children, modified, from Green Ronin's Bastards & Bloodlines). Favored class likely to be the shaman class from FFG's Dawnforge, or a variant thereof. Both races are ageless, neither now can reproduce.

Little miscalculation on their part there.
Nell.

I almost went with "hobbits" there, but somehow at the time "elves" seemed the funnier choice.

That is very cool. Nifty how the elves get back their traditional folkloristic immortality, but not in a good way. Be interesting to see the impact on their society. I'm guessing they'd become isolated and extremely risk-averse.

Say, did you know that Tolkien's Quenya was heavily influenced by the Finnish language?

"Elves" is funnier, though I couldn't tell you why. There are no hobbits, though. Might have been at one time, but the giants came through and spitted them all for hobbit-kabobs.

Thanks. The treailven are cautious to the point of paranoia-- they were inclined that way anyways. The liosilven are intelligently aggressive, and invest heavily in raise dead and resurrection magics. They're like Marines - no one gets left behind. They haul the corpses home and raise them up again. I'm still working out the fine details.

Cheers

Not a solid answer but don't name it somthing-erth/urth. Please!

Fine with me. This isn't a whole world, it's just a region. The world itself is called, simply, Wyrld, but since there's only one, it's like us calling everything Universe. Not very useful in locating oneself.

Yup.

Now I am going to have to create an NPC called Varlden av Grahok.

Hong "any suggestions for classes, people?" Ooi

Try multiclassing - I suggest levels of krigare, tjuv and magi-användare.

Or maybe a single-classed prästman.
