Help me out with miss damage

Hi,

I got 2 questions concerning miss damage:

1. Does miss damage count as weapon damage?
2. Does the +1 damage bonus from magic weapons apply to miss damage?

1) It counts as the kind of damage that would be inflicted on a hit. So for a weapon, it's weapon damage and for Ray of Frost it's cold damage.

2) As far as I can see, it isn't explicitly spelled out, but I would say no.

Currently we're discussing this same subject over on G+. It seems split about 50/50 of the opinion that magic weapon plusses do not count towards Miss damage.

I side with +Aaron R:

Strictly speaking, you don't add magical bonuses to miss damage. This isn't spelled out in the rules directly, but in one of the magical items (the Victory By Inches belt on page 288) which has the property of allowing you to add that magic bonus to miss damage. If every magic weapon added to miss damage, that would make that item completely useless.

Sounds like such a simple thing to add to a game, when even people who like it are 50/50 on how it actually works.
