Help Me Pick A Convention Game To Run

If you think about running Draw Steel, then I would instead suggest Beacon.

Goes in a sinilar direction, but is a lot more streamlined and the rulebook is soooo much bettet so its much easier to learn for you.

Its easy to make premade characters, the only complex thing are the phases for which you can print out the site fron the rulebook with them.

It also has a relative easy to run adventure in the book: BEACON TTRPG by Pirate Gonzalez Games

The classes are (as in the preview page) condensed to 1 site (+1 ultimate ability). So easy to print. And items and spell are always in such boxes so also easy to print and understand.

Might consider some variation of Traveller for a space game.
Concur. Either Classic or Mongoose 2e are great choices. GT isn't bad if you know GURPS. HeroTrav's decent if you know hero... GT would work for a con, hero probably less so... unless you love hero and want to teach hero and trav together.

I’d put some things together for the vibe from Shi’ar Imperial Guard to Legion of Super-Heroes: officially sanctioned supers representing a multi-ethnic/multi-species society, solving an escalating crisis set up by the Big Bad. Individual sessions might involve an apparently natural disaster on a moon of a rogue planet being developed for its handy location and exotic deep ocean life, the ruin of a vast abandoned habitat falling into a mega black hole, and a showdown in the midst of a major city where the hero’s have to be careful and the villain doesn’t.

Ooh. That's fun.

One idea I had a while back for a con game is a far future science fantasy portal fantasy, where the PCs keep (as in, each slot) finding themselves awaked in the Gamma World/Wizards/Dying Earth era, having been summoned forward in time using their cryo-presered bodies. Except that it is Now, and cryo-preservation isn't really a thing (they know about).

The point of the thing is that Something Is Coming in the near term from Now, and the forces bringing the PCs forward (simply because those were the cryo forms they could find) want to master their own world based on what the PCs can tell them about the Event. But the tech isn't precise and they first get the PCs before the Event happens. Now the PCs (who start out not knowing one another) know about the Event. Can they do anything in their present/the past to stop it? If not, can they escape permanently into the wild and weird sci-fantasy future?

I have details to work out of course, but what I really ned is a game system. I am kind of leaning toward the *WN games from Sine Nomine, since I could pretty easily mash them up.
