Yeenoghu could work for this I think. He's more about bestial rage and destruction than gnolls, although I can see how the association would be natural for gamers.

No... Yeenoghu really is all about the gnolls too. It's not just a natural association for gamers, it's apparently a natural association for games designers because his description has from the get-go included a fairly intimate gnollish association.

If anything, the recentish Yeenoghu "comeback" article in Dragon made it even more explicit and integral to his concept. But it already always was.
