Help me pick my feat progression. Weird feats please!

Pimping: The Kalamar Players Guide has some Wisdom or Charisma based feat chains (Wisdom: Meditate or Patience & Know your enemy; Charisma: Eyes of Fury feat chain) for fighters. Have a look at the 3.5 update sheets if you're interested.

Do you have a link for those update sheets, Darklone? I would be interested, as I haven't looked through that book lately, and I don't own it.

Here, scroll down the page, not sure though if all the mentioned feats are described in these sheets (Eyes of Fury should be)... it's been a while.
 

an interesting option in the Kalamar book is Unerring Strike. Which is a reverse Power Attack. Used in conjunction with your character's Combat Expertise you can exchange some of your characters massive amounts of damage for AC. Your guy would be very hard to pin down (where is he shifting what) and just seems he would have a lot of options open to him each round.

Another thought is to develop a Feat that allows you to crit Undead, which will probably help you in the area you are in. Such a Feat would be bound to have pricey Prereqs though.

Find the Secrets, KPG as well. Yes, heavy prerequisites.
 

I think you said you wanted to use the bastard sword two-handed as a flavor thing, but you're wasting the free exotic weapon proficiency if you do so. A 2 handed b. sword is not exotic, only if wielded in one hand. Just pointing this out if you hadn't realized it.

Isn't Bastard Sword the only choice Humans have for thier free "Racial" Weapon Prof in Scarred Lands?

Yeah, there was only one option for free exotic weapon proficiency.

Eventually, I may decide to switch instead to sword and board, or even two weapon style with bastard sword (min maxing be damned :)). At this point I am going to get to WW attack as fast as possible, then maybe go into a second avenue. I am only fourth level, so I have plenty of time to think about it... I just took Great Cleave with my fourth level feat.
 

Update on this whole thread.

Within a few weeks of the origin of this thread (Thanks Piratecat btw...) my DM made a bit of a twist, perhaps cause he read this thread.

I got to thinking about it, and it seems what he chose to do was kind of a neat thing that other dm's might like and other players may even consider.

We have never played much of a campaign where you could really plan your character from 1-20 like often is seen in this forums. Our gaming group doesn't allow it, and certainly none of our dm's would. We are clearly much more interested in character intensive games than character oriented ones, and that leaks over to us choosing weaker feats and classes often times. You can't take *feats* much less classes without justifying them in game (for instance, the Scarred Lands feat Cloth Dancing was overruled for my character at 3rd level regardless of prereqs).

My character during 4th level started training at a War College in HollowFaust (link that is tangential... http://www.bartleby.com/19/1/ ) called the Headsman's School. My character picked up study at the harsh cost of 10 gold a week. Of course adventuring was still a going concern. During 5th level, the party adventured into the desert, where my DM saw fit to allow the party the chance at finding a Legendary Weapon (Unearthed Arcana stuff) called Tasuudan Nerri or "The Winds Edge" a weapon created by a great Asaath weopon crafter.

So in spite of my initial desire to continue as a fighter, Byron took 6th level as a fighter and has since taken a couple levels of Battle Scion, per UA.

The Tasuudan Nerri allows legendary abilities focused on the power of the wind in increased power, focused on speed. Considering that, I have gone farther on my previous path, but with more focus on movement. Now at 8th level, I have added an ability point in Strength (20 now) and taken feats of Mobility, Spring Attack and Whirlwind Attack.

The thing I find to be neat is the Asaathi feats that the Legendary Weapon allow my character. The Battle Scion is a PC that is exactly like a fighter of the same levels, but instead giving bonus feats at 1,3,7 and 10th levels. Byron will give up 1 feat over 10 levels. My DM mentioned that Byron would probably lose the weapon (Intuition I guess on Byron's part :o ) if he didn't focus on the Legendary Weapon sufficiently (taking all levels in Battle Scion), but he focused on general combat in spite (6th level as a fighter).

The Tasuudan Nerri provides 5 virtual feats over the course of the 10 levels dedicated to its use. Four are from the Scarred Lands accessory dedicated to the Asaathi, noted by *. It also has a few wind based spell like powers, caster level based on BS class levels.

To any non Battle Scion attuned to the blade, it is a Katana +1 that gives Quick Draw when weilding it.

Levels of Battle Scion give extra abilities when using the Legendary Weapon:

1st Dance as the Wind*
-Gain one initiative per round of combat up to double of base initiative, changing order of combat
2nd Wind Wall 3/day
3rd Improved Initiative
4th The Wind Cuts Deeply *
-Improved Crit with Tasuudan Nerri vs opponents with lower initiative
5th Enhancement +1
6th The Wind Cuts All *
-Against opponents with lower initiative, gain the difference in Initiatives as a Damage bonus to attacks, Max of Dex bonus of the weilder.
7th Grow as the Gale *
-After every five rounds of combat, gain 5' reach
8th Resist Shock/Lightning (vas) 10
9th Control Winds 2/day
10th Whirlwind 1/day

With the increases in speed and the extra feats that do things, along with the few spell like abilities, I am definitely going to progress in power faster than a fighter, no matter how optimised. The instrinsic feat loss isn't much in light of this, considering the surprising benefits from even the weaker feats I have gotten from the class so far, compared to optimised fighters taking feats.

I am married to the Tasuudan Nerri til 16th level, perhaps I will update this thread a bit and update everybody on how the feats play as far as power level.

Byron has a monk/psionic warrior and a necromancer as his companions, and he deals the most damage right now. We shall see how his continued improvement works compared to those who are considered stronger by most in this forum.

I also have a few feats to choose my next few levels, so I hope this sparked some interest. I may need help choosing the next few ;)
 

Weapons focus: Great sword
Monkey grip: Great sword (from Sword and Fist)
Two Weapons Fighting

You'll take the usual -4 for fighting with two medium weapons (thanks to Monkey grip) but you'll get to fight with a bastard sword and a great sword! Makes the GC all the more fun! :D
