18 point build? What kind of GM do you have? That sounds really low for a pathfinder game. He must be one of those GMs who wants pcs to be weak.

I'll make this quick, I need to build a 3rd level sorcerer for my pathfinder game. Wanting to go with a human arcane bloodline. We are using an 18 point build. Only using the core and advanced players guide. Thanks!

Tough one, quick fleshing would be stats as follows
STR 10
DEX 13
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 10
CHA 18 (16 buy, +2 racial)

Feats:
1st: Spell Focus Conjuration
1st: (Racial Bonus) Augment Summoning
3rd: Improved Initiative

Skills (4, 2 +1(racial bonus) +1(Favored Class))
Spellcraft
Use Magic Device
KN Arcana
Bluff

Spells
0 Level - 5
Acid Splash
Detect Magic
Light
Resistance
Mage Hand
1 Level - 3+1
Grease
SM1
Mage Armor
Identify (Blood Line)

Wait till 5th to get a metamagic, you could only metamagic a 0 level at the moment. For the bond, I recommend a familiar and improved familiar as 7th level feat (Silvanshee, B2 p21). Focus on Conjuration spells for the list as it covers your lack of Dex, Con and Str to an extent when you plop demons, angels, and elementals in your enemies way

Not the only way to do it, and, sorry to say, I find the arcane bloodline boring compared to others. Good luck though

Emirikol - Exactly... my DM's focus is on limiting the fun his players can have... so I spend most of my time making "fun" of him! ;)

Plane Sailing - Thanks for getting this in the right area... it's been a while since I've posted...

Dingo333 - Nice! I really appreciate the well thought out response with all the detail. I hadn't really been thinking of going summoner though... I had been thinking more of a direct damage path. Along that line, I had also been thinking about using the human specific favored class thing from the advanced players guide so I could have a larger spell selection. I also have a question about the spell "grease". Everyone seems to think it's great, I don't remember thinking that when I read it in the book though. Could you explain the benefits of it?

Well, for starters, if you are a summoner, you need a feat (spell focus Conjuration) to take Augment Summoning. To make this not a waste of a feat slot, you want conjuration spells that need a save, grease fills that 1st level slot

Second, grease can be used on an area to slow opponents as they trip and fall, DC is 16 in my example sorcerer. It will help any rouge in the group because anyone who falls in Flat Footed thus sneak attack able

Third, it can be used to grease a weapon, making it hard if not impossible to use. Barbarian is coming at you with his great axe in rage, grease, can not use his great axe as it slips out of his hand. Useful for ranged disarming opponents

The thought of using the favored class to gain bonus spells is good, but since in levels 1-3 you can only gain 0 level spell (states it must be a level lower then the highest you can cast) I don't see the point in taking it before level 4

If you want a direct damage sort of sorcerer, I recommend the Dragon or Elemental bloodlines and change the first 2 feats to Elemental Focus and Greater Elemental Focus with a type matching your chosen one in the bloodline (Burning Hands at 3rd level would be a 3d4(+3 if a dragon bloodline) "fire typed" 15' cone with a DC 17 to half)

Most important spell for any aspiring summoner: vanish and invisibility. Don't even need greater invis. that much.

Good point, though I will note he is not high enough level for invisibility, and in my example, I thought grease and SM1 were more important (swapping out mage armor for vanish is not a bad idea at this point though)
