Help me remember fantasy book series! Driving me bonkers.

Here's what I remember.

- pretty sure author was British from style / word choices etc
- it was fantasy, lots of action
- really tongue in cheek humor, characters were not that clever and were always getting in trouble for making really bad choices. One was pretending to be a woman? Two characters were always together and both were real dopes and they were always in over their heads.
- was also pretty dark, lots of murder hobo type stuff. Villain in first book was really weird - I think he was a death god or something like that and he started out as a baby, or was old and was becoming a baby..?
-swordmaster character with magic sword that was sentient, or axe..? Too many mixed up in my head!

There was more than one book, think 3?

Bits of it sound like Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, particular the night watch arc - British, humorous, two not-clever characters (Colon and Nobbs), with Nobbs pretending to be a woman at one point. But then there’s the muderhobo part, and Death is never a villain in Discworld.

So far, I'm stumped, as is my Google-Fu.

Nope not him for sure. I had it on kindle unlimited, but I don't subscribe anymore so it doesn't show on my page. So annoying..!

Any chance it was one of Robert Lynn Asprin's "Myth Adventures" series? The pair could be Nunzio and Guido. I only read one, a billion years ago, and couldn't say whether a death god or intelligent sword appear. And there are like 999,999 of those books.
