Help me reward a player

Okay, here's the idea I have.

My group is currently playing through the Shackled City campaign, but we are on a break while I'm in college. As such, I would like to do as much work on it as possible.

I plan on giving each of my players a gift in character. I just can't come up with something for two characters.

A Orc Fighter/Barbarian who worked as a weaponsmith
A Half-elf Fighter (read: archer)

I want these gifts to be something special. Can anyone suggest something?

Orc - I would grant him a special belt that allows 1 extra rage per day, depending on the other gifts you might also cause it to allow fast movement in better armor.

1/2 Elf - Glove of Storing - I had a character that had this, as a move action he can place or recall an item stored in the glove, made a great way to draw his bow even when surprised.

Additional Options:

Orc - Smith Hammer of Materwork - Grants a +10 Magic Bonus to Craft:Blacksmith
1/2 Elf - Quiver of Normal Arrow - A quiver that always has an arrow available. Normal non-magical non-silver NORMAL arrows. Other arrows can be stored in it, but if they runout the normal arrows keep coming.

Ah that's easy. Give the half-orc an ingot of unobtanium that he can, over time, create a unique masterwork item suitable only to himself with. That is, he puts some blood, sweat and tears in it (maybe even literally). When he passes on unless he gives it over to someone of his bloodline, willingly, the magic of the item is gone.

Have someone approach the half-elf with a similar item from the elven half of the family - a yew bow that has been handed on to him in circumstances similar to the item the orc would make. It's a family relic that'll work only for him.

Pluses or bonuses are yours to decide.

What levels are the characters? Is it a high magic campaign? Any other details we should know?

The characters are all 5th level as of now, but these gifts can/will be presented later on in the campaign.

The campaign is semi lower-magic. I have a tendency to lower the amount of money that the group has as well as magic. I mean as 5th level character, they have a like six very minor items and each have something like 2,000 gp.

I like the idea for the Half-Orc. Maybe something different for the Half-elf to make sure the whole party gets unique items.

Drow tentacle rod.

"Yeaaaaaaaah...you know how we told you when you were born you just tanned really easy, and your mom even moreso? And there was that one cabinet you were told not to open? Yeaaaah...yeah, see about that..."

Now thats funny.

I just have a quesiton about the ingot of unobtanium. Is that is a book somewhere. And if not, how would he go about making the item. Just wondering if there are any offical rules on it.

Well I do have my days. :)

I.

You're.

That's a put on, right?

Sorry. "Unobtanium" is a word which I first heard bandied about when I was doing some contracting for the Military a few years ago (and I'm sure the term is much, much older) - it refers literally to a metal or other substance that can't be obtained. To wit: If we could armor a tank with some kind of unobtanium that had the strength of Chobham armor at 1/1000th the weight, thickness, and cost, we'd have an army of unstoppable tanks. But we can't - the material is un-obtain-able. :)

Thanks. Now I look silly for being too lazy to look up the word in the dictionary. That is perfect then.

Check out the Weapons of Legacy book. I gave our Half-Elf archer a Bow of the Black Archer. It's a Drow slaying bow. It gave the player a lot of goals for her character. Legacy weapons level up with your character, so you could give it early on and it won't be overpowered.

There's a few Legacy weapons that might work for the Half-Orc also.
