D&D 5E Help Me Think Like an Ice Devil

Sorry, I must not have been clear. I am looking for ways the Ice Devil would interact or negotiate with a party. It's in a tough situation, it knows it can lose, and it knows that this group of adventures may be able to help it achieve it's goal of getting off this plane or at least help it regain it's strength.

I like the ideas of making a deal that backfires against the PCs, I like the idea of playing up the Lawful aspect, I like the idea of the Devil getting the PCs to do something for him. Thanks everyone! If there are any more cool ideas, let 'er rip.

Well in that case, you don't have to weaken it. Just have it have something the PCs need. Maybe it knows the where abouts of a quest item, and want the PCs to return an item to it. Maybe the PCs don't know this item is its devil's amulet, and it wants the PCs to slay the wizard that summoned and trapped it, and once it gets it back, it can be free and teleport away, and the PCs will have to deal with it later in the campaign.

This is how a devil would think. The devil may have taught the wizard to make the amulet, and by doing so, the wizard has power over the devil. Since the devil can't kill the wizard directly, he tricks the PCs into doing it. The PCs bring back the amulet and the devil disappears. Now that he has his anchor into the world (the amulet) he can come and go as he pleases.
