Help me with a Character for a psionic game

My Gm has had XPH for a while now but has been loath to bring it into the old game.

what with that finnishing He's keen to start a Psionic campaign (or at least a campaign where psionics are fairly common)

so I'm thinking about some options.

I would like to play a thi-kreen as I hold a lot of afection for then from old dark sun days.

we have to create 12th lvl characters.

as I want to play a thi- kreen and dabbl ein psionics, the ECl and monstrous Humanoid HD are looking less atractive.

anyway. I also want to maximize the extra hands thing.

I've come up with 3 Diff Options

A) 1 lvl of Psion then into Ilithid Slayer - gives me some psionic ability. without to much loss of Fighting power - Very few feats though. especialy considering I'm going to want to spend feats of Multi weapon fighting etc.

B) similar take Psionic warrior until I qualify for War mind The Go war mind. less Psionic ability, but some interesting abilities. same thing as before for Feats.

C) forget about Psionics. Go straight Ranger - carry a bunch of BAne weapons and focus of Favoured enemy stuff.

I dunno I feel like i'm trying to juggle to many things with this character. how would you optimise a Thi-kreen?

War Minds are great! Start out as a psychic warrior for extra feats, then go war mind as soon as youre able for the cool stuff. Youll actually gain in PPs and BAB, only losing out on powers known.
 

You can go ranger/pyrokineticist, aiming for the hand/weapon afire ability. I´m not sure if the ability it´s limited to one hand (or weapon) overall, or that you can activate the ability several times, once for each of your hands.
 


I believe that there are a few different versions of the thrikreen floating around, which would you prefer to use?

Make sure that you get multiweapon fighting. I doubt multiattack is generally worthwhile though. I think weapon focus would be a better choice at that point.

Also take improved natural attack, get those natural weapons really working for you. Along with a good amulet of natural weapons (expensive, but very good for this guy).

Assuming that you are going to use the one out of the psionics handbook then you are looking having 2 racial hd and +2 LA.

Pick up a feat to make all of your psi-like abilities act as though your manifestor level is up to +4 higher but no higher than your current hd. This will help a lot for useing those abilities.

Two levels of psychic warrior will get you your extra point of BAB for War Mind along with netting you 2 bonus psionic feats. I would suggest speed of thought and up the walls.

Unless of course there is a racial paragon for thrikreen somewhere or maybe you can make one up with the help of the board here if there isnt. Then with three levels of that you might be able to really round out the character.

After those requirements are met then hit War Mind, once you get to level 5 with this the sheer number of strikes you could do in a round will be staggering. But since each doesnt do a whole lot of damage it hopefully wont be that big of a deal for the dm ;)

So, you would have: Thrikreen4/Psychic Warrior2/WarMind6

That is enough for sweeping strikes and DR 2/- to go with everything else. With a base speed of 50', a BAB of +9, and 5 attacks in a round you should be good to go!

Oh, and saves of F:+8, R: +8, W: +5 which arent too bad for base saves.


If you are going to go the racial paragon route, assuming one can be made/found, it may change things up a little, but the character above will be pretty nice. Especially if you can get 'practiced manifestor' as well (the corallary to practiced spellcaster).
