in a Fey situation I think it would be fun to have a commoner who wandered into the situation by mistake as happens all the time in the fairy tales....but instead of surviving by their wits they latch onto the party and so the PC's have to babysit the poor farmer/shepherd boy/local wise woman until they get them safely out of the party
I've been working up a later encounter with a labyrinth using this idea of a non-combatant in the form of a baby. getting to the center of the maze isn't too hard, but coming out enemies are trying to capture or kill the baby so the PCs are playing defense the whole way out -- probably having to find a different path than the one they know coming in.
