Hello all, I just unearthed a huge trove of my old minis. Except when I was 12 I didn't paint well... I need to find a way to strip the paint...Any suggestions?

Well, there are lots of choices and little agreement about which one is best. Three that will work are:

Pine Sol
Simple green
Brake fluid

Personally, I use PineSol. Just soak your painted minis overnight in full-strength PineSol and the paint will come off easy. I use an old toothbrush to take off the last stubborn remnants of paint. The other solutions work pretty much the same way.

PineSol makes your minis piney fresh, though :D

Hey, didn't we just have this topic? :)

Oven cleaner. Spray on, leave for 2 hours, scrub off with old toothbrush. The other one that works pretty well for me is brake fluid, but I seem to have to leave it for longer.

Both have been safe on lead, pewter and plastic minis.

Happy painting.

By request of the miniatures fans, we now have a forum for miniatures! I'll slide this over.

We do??! Where? All I see is the "Art Gallery & Miniatures" one we've always had. Or am I just blind?

On closer inspection, I see that PC simply added the word "Miniatures" to the Art Gallery forum, thus giving us two for the price of one!
:p

That's had "Miniatures" as part of its name for a while now. :( phooey! I was hoping we had a new forum. Oh well. (sigh)

I dont know how long ago you were 12, but minis have made great strides forward since I was 12. Back then, everything D&D was 15mm which just cant compete with the 25mm and 30mm figures which are popular today.

Anyway, if you have a collection of 15mm figs, I'd recommend buying a 25mm fig (Reaper, Games Workshop) or two to try out. The amount of work you will spend stripping old 15mm figures could easily go into painting a new mini which will look twice as good.

Try www.coolminiornot.com for examples of what can be done in the format (with a huge amount of talent. ;-)
