Help finding replacement trash show

Hello good people.

I've just learned that a favourite TV guilty pleasure, The Serpent Queen, has been cancelled. There will be no 3rd season. Sad times.

I will be the first to admit, it aint great TV. I said trash in the thread title and I meant it. But my wife and I now have a serpent shaped hole in our viewing that needs to filled with something. Something period drama, preferably with a strong trashy vibe.

Similar things we've liked are Versaille, and The Great.

Ok, The Great isn't trash. It's great. <Huzzah!>

So... any suggestions?

Thanks for all the replies!

We've already seen The Decameron, and loved it! I think we watched it all in 2 nights.

We've also seen Bridgerton. Again, we're big fans. Including of Renee Jean Paige's butt is an awesome butt. 🍑

Happy to give Penny Dreadful a try. Don't mind a bit of horror.

Gilded Age could work. I mean, we don't have to watch trash. We can be classy. 🙃

Poldark was a good show with Aidan Turner who was one of the dwarves in The Hobbit. It came out on channel2 9-10 years ago and was about him coming home to England after the American Revolution to find his land and love in trouble.

Timothy Dalton, Eva Green and Josh Hartnett... Sort of a horror version of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, reimagining and riffing off of famous Victorian characters and archetypes. Damn good stuff.

Heard good things about that, always wanted to watch it.

If you like war movies, the Sharpe's Rifles series of tv movies has Sean Bean fighting in the Napoleonic Wars.
