Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 Is Almost Upon Us! Discuss What You Want

Well, technically I was just collecting some of SZK's old reviews.

But I realized ... give the people what they want. And people wanted to discuss Strange New Worlds.

Except maybe when they want to discuss the Orville?

Eh, Forget it, Umbran. It's Internettown.

I want the studio to admit that SNW is what most fans want and thier star wars style star trek stuff just doesnt cut it. more stuff like SNW and Lower Decks less of the other rewrites / alternate time line start over junk

I want to know how they bridge the gap between their xenomorph Gorn and TOS’s lovable Disco Sleestak Gorn who Kirk extends mercy towards.

It’ll be a neat trick. I think they can pull it off. But I admit after Captain Batel was revealed to be infected, I’d be fine with the Metrons giving the Gorn the Husnock treatment.

I'll keep it 150 with you-

I honestly don't care that much about canon when there is a good story. Canon is only one consideration for storytelling, and while I don't think it should be callously or thoughtlessly disregarded, I will always think that people will forgive any trespasses that result in an awesome story.

In other words, I'm digging the Gorn storyline, and I'm not going to worry too much about how they square it with Kirk ripping his shirt in order to save the universe.

Yeah, last time they tried to square canon, we got that weird Klingon virus thing in Enterprise. I'd be perfectly fine with them never addressing the Gorn thing.
I have no idea why they didn't just go with the stuff that was published in the support materials for the old FASA Star Trek RPG. It was canon for a couple of decades. The Klingon Empire were big on genetic engineering and created hybrid races to deal with the stellar nations on their borders. Human/Klingon fusions for the Federation border and Romulan/Klingon fusions for the border with the Romulan Empire. The FASA take on the Four Years War was also far better thought out.

I hope there’s lots of tedious debate about the prime directive. Those were my favorite episodes of TNG. I joke, but those episodes were the ones where they discover a strange new world. I hope the next season focuses on discovering strange new worlds and slowly unfold mysteries about them with as little metaplot or digressions about the personal lives of the main characters as possible. Planet of the week episodes.
