Da Vinci's Demons? Seems like it fits. Maybe Marco Polo?
Black Sails is really good.

Poldark was a good show with Aidan Turner who was one of the dwarves in The Hobbit. It came out on channel2 9-10 years ago and was about him coming home to England after the American Revolution to find his land and love in trouble.
Miranda Richardson is the only acceptable Elizabeth I actress for me.That being said, there is talk of an Elizabeth 1 show with Mini Driver reprising her version of Lizzie 1 from The Serpent Queen which I think I could watch.
I mean, clearly she's the greatest.Miranda Richardson is the only acceptable Elizabeth I actress for me.
I enjoyed the first season of The Serpent Queen, but haven't watched the second one yet.

The Last Kingdom is a series that takes place during early like 8th(?) century England. It lands firmly in that segment I'd consider enjoyable trash. It's a fun watch, but if you think about it too long it becomes easy to pick apart.
It was on Masterpiece Theater on PBS 2015-2019. The lead had been the vampire in the UK version of Being Human.Poldark! Goodness me. I remember my mum was a fan of the books when she was young. I'm vaguely aware that there was a TV show back in the 70s. But I assume you mean a new series. I'll track that down.
Just got done binging that one and loved it start to finish.I could try The Last Kingdom. There might be a little more war than my wife is into. But we won't know till we try.
