Help finding replacement trash show

Poldark was a good show with Aidan Turner who was one of the dwarves in The Hobbit. It came out on channel2 9-10 years ago and was about him coming home to England after the American Revolution to find his land and love in trouble.

Poldark! Goodness me. I remember my mum was a fan of the books when she was young. I'm vaguely aware that there was a TV show back in the 70s. But I assume you mean a new series. I'll track that down.

I don't think I could convince my wife to watch Sharpe. I did watch it back in the day. It certainly ticks the trash box though.

Da Vinci's Demons could work. I notice it's by the same production company as made the Serpent Queen.

Black Sails is really good. Oddly, my wife didn't get into it.

We started on The White Princess. Didn't get into it. I think we're just so very, very over Tudors, whether historically accurate and well acted or not.

That being said, there is talk of an Elizabeth 1 show with Mini Driver reprising her version of Lizzie 1 from The Serpent Queen which I think I could watch.

I enjoyed the first season of The Serpent Queen, but haven't watched the second one yet.

Are you specifically looking for a Renaissance era period piece? Or just a general period piece?

The Last Kingdom is a series that takes place during early like 8th(?) century England. It lands firmly in that segment I'd consider enjoyable trash. It's a fun watch, but if you think about it too long it becomes easy to pick apart.

I could try The Last Kingdom. There might be a little more war than my wife is into. But we won't know till we try.

It was on Masterpiece Theater on PBS 2015-2019. The lead had been the vampire in the UK version of Being Human.

Just got done binging that one and loved it start to finish.

Well, there was one character that got on our nerves so bad in Season 3 we were thinking of quitting, but muscled through it and thankfully things got better.

Enjoyed the movie too!
